Welcome to Backpack University

We understand that children learn more in the first five years of life than at any other time and that family are children’s first teachers. We strive to work together with families to understand each child’s learning style, interests and abilities. We provide a caring, supportive environment that challenges each child to develop at his or her own pace in all aspects of development – social, emotional, cognitive and physical – and that involves families in shaping the program.

The six curriculum areas we emphasize are:

1. Language and Early Literacy
2. Mathematics
3. Science, Technology, and Engineering
4. History and Social Science
5. Visual and Performance Arts
6. Health and Physical Education

We developed our curriculum in coordination with the Episcopal Children Services Voluntary Pre-k Program Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences (Links to Literacy), the Houghton Mifflin Curriculum, and the Learning Expectations of the Public Schools of Florida.
